Skulls + Aztec Prints ...and giveaway winner!

Happy Monday lovelies! Today I was blessed enough to stay home with my son. So this is why this post comes a little later than usual. Have to enjoy my son to the fullest:) So now that he is taking a little nap, I am free to post this outfit from this weekend. Skull scarves and aztec prints are so hot right now. And when I saw this cardigan and scarf on OASAP I knew they had to be mine. I love a good black and white piece like this one. It is perfect for jeans and leggings giving my fall look a super chic and still casual vibe. I live in booties in the fall. I love that they are "sporty" enough to feel casual and comfortable but still give me some height and make me feel that sex appeal I get from wearing my heels! My cousins love the skull print and I love to see it on them! So I was inspired by them to get this one in black. Initially I was going to do the loop wrap but really loved how it looked just like this nice and simple and in contrast with my cardigan. I wore all black under to make the sweater and scarf the pop. Oh and see below for a little Ben cameo ;)

So yes, Ben is back! It is so difficult sometimes to take pictures for the blog with him because being a boy he doesn't want to stand there STILL and pose for pics... he wants to run around like he should! But here are a few pics we were able to snap before we headed out to a birthday party. He is so cute, if I may say so myself;)

Hello Kitty Cuteness!

A few weeks ago I was invited to a Hello Kitty event, where we were able to preview some beyond-adorable Hello Kitty  Paul Frank and Sparkle Bee products. Growing up in the 80's I actually knew all about Hello Kitty and I love to see that today the popular cartoon is still as popular as ever. I was able to bring one guest and I was thrilled to bring my youngest aunt, she is probably the biggest Hello Kitty fan I know. So it was awesome to experience the event with her. The event took place at Serendipity III in NYC.  I actually had never been to the famous spot, so I was thrilled to come to the event. We were greeted with the popular and delicious frozen hot chocolate desserts... and DO believe the hype! They are to die for. I loved that they had set up the place with amazing sweets and treats, fun giveaways and contests.

Some of my favorite products were the Hello Kitty Toaster and the pink TV monitor with remote (see below; also comes in black). The TV is super cute and I can't wait to have a little girl one day and decorate her room with some adorable HK items. These items are actually not even out yet, they will hit shelves this November, perfect timing for the holidays. If you have a little girl, no matter what the age range, there is something for everyone. From fun karaoke machine that has a built in camera to a fab and sleek blow dryer as well as a cute little night light. The possibilities for gifts are endless.... from little ones to adult HK lovers.

Here are some of my top picks from the product preview:
There were also some pretty cool Paul Frank items. My favorite is the water dispenser!

TRIVIA: Did you know that Hello Kitty turns next year?
Yes, something I learned at the event... what an amazing milestone!

During the event there were quite a few Twitter/Instagram/Facebook contests... and whaddajuknow I won for best Twitter pic! Not only did I win a pretty fab popcorn maker and water dispenser, we also were sent home with swag bags filled with Hello Kitty fabulosity! From cell phones cases, pens, ipod/camera cases and sparkly ear buds! My husband was less than thrilled with all the new pink items at our house ;)

Follow Sparkle Bee on Facebook & Twitter for updates on the release of these and more products!

Floral Edge

Faux leather pants, a must have piece for the fall/winter season. I recently got these from H&M and I love the material... they are so soft and comfortable and at just $34.95 they are definitely a hit for me. Leather pants (I prefer faux) are a super versatile. I love this look it's a little feminine but still has a cool little edge to it. I styled it with this floral top (also from H&M) to give it a delicate touch and added the studded pumps for a little fab detail. I can't wait to wear them with a longer knit sweater and my black booties. Even a cute graphic tee and black blazer would be a super chic. The possibilities are endless for a pair of these and I love that there are so many choices and different price levels to choose from. So we can all be super stylish this fall season!
-------

Top/Blusa: H&M | Pants/Pantalones: H&M | Purse/Cartera: Aldo
Shoes/Zapatos: Aldo | Bracelets/Pulseras: Lola Blue

The Black + White Trend: Re-purposed!

I have this gorgeous dress I wore back in May for a Mother's Day post which I wore again a couple of weeks ago for a family party and it fit much loser than back in May, I guess I've shed a couple of lbs and I wasn't even trying, score! So I wanted to take advantage of the fact that it no longer fit so great and I decided to style the dress as a skirt. And while in my closet I found this older long sleeve shirt dress that I love... one of those pieces you just can't part with. So in reality though it looks like I am wearing 2 separate pieces; a shirt and a skirt... I am really wearing TWO dresses for this look. I thought it was such a fun thing to do create a edgy cool look with older items from my closet. I love a good re-purposed outfit. It makes me feel like I bought new stuff and saves me some money too. Trust me ladies, we can all revamp and restyle our closets without spending a buck. Just takes a little creativity!
------

Jewelry/Joyeria: Lola Blue | Top/Camisa: Dress from NY&Co. (old) | Skirt/Falda: Dress from Forever21
Bag/Purse: Olivia + Joy | Booties/Botines: Steve Madden via TJMaxx

This is another pair of boots I purchased from TJMaxx as part of my Shoe Haul a few weeks ago. I paid just $49.99 for them. They are Steve Madden and just perfection. I added gold accents and a red lip to this look in order to make it super fun and a little edgy. I really love this look, it's a fun outfit idea for a night in the city with friends. I love that it's girly and edgy all in one.
------

Good luck!

Moto Boots + a Fall Giveaway

Fall is finally here to stay and I am loving it. Moto boots are all the rage right now and I have to be honest I am digging the trend. They are super chic and fab but very edgy-cool... something a mom on the go like me can totally rock ;) They are comfortable enough for run after Ben in the park and fabulous enough to feel in style. I bought these as part of my TJMaxx Shoe Haul a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't be happier with them. Especially considering I paid just $39.99 for them. I've said it before and I will say it again, I don't over spend on trendy pieces, we all know they go out of style, so for this trendy boot I knew I wanted something inexpensive but still really cool. Leave the most expensive items in your closet to be those classic pieces we all must have. For fall, I would recommend a great black blazer, a nice pair of jeans, a fabulous pair of leather boots and an amazing bag. Those 4 pieces are your classic looks for fall. Every thing else, save a little money and enjoy the fun fall trends but always make them your own, it is so important to feel comfortable in what you are wearing because it shows. Don't wear something you are not comfortable in just because it's "in style". Make them YOU.
------
Me encantan!

FALL SHOES GUIDE WITH TJMAXX

New season means new shoes! And I did just that. In the past week I have scored some amazing deals on new fall shoes. All from TJMAXX! All 3 styles are very different and equally fabulous. I wasn't really looking for any of these when I bought them and no I didn't buy them all the same day... and yes I was in TJMaxx two times in one week. But that's nothing new. I love finding great items at great prices, especially when it comes to some classic items. I don't know about you but any time I am actually looking for something... I CANNOT FIND IT. So whenever I see a great deal, I buy it. Especially at stores like TJMaxx, Marshalls and Home Goods for the home, since usually they only have one or a couple of the same. That is why I couldn't pass up buying these 3 pairs. These are perfect for this fall and for completely different occasions. Which makes your closet super versatile with these 3 fabulous shoes. So for under $150 you have yourself 3 equally amazing shoes.

The Nude ... I am a sucker for a pair of nudes. But I am a bigger sucker for a pair of Betsey Johnson nude patent leather BOW pumps! (Say that 5 times fast) They are amazing not just for fall but all year round ladies. I live in my nudes. They literally go with everything. And these can be dresses up and down. Double Score! Stunning, simply stunning. Sophisticated chic-appeal... that's my new word: chic-appeal ha! And yes ladies, these are the "steal" version of those amazing Valentino pumps. For a fraction of the price, you gotta have them! I want them in every color and print.
PRICE: $49.99

The Bootie ...the ankle boot is a must have in every woman's closet. From super chic styles to more dressy and sexy pairs like these. I have 3 pairs of booties. And though I die for my other 2... these may just be my new favorite. They are made of suede and are so comfortable. I can't wait to style them. Some ideas on how to wear them would be; with a cute dress and blazer, maybe a fab leather skater skirt and a knit sweater... and of course a pair of hot leather pants! Or simply grab your favorite jeans and a fun graphic tee and you are ready for a night on the town.
PRICE: $49.99

The Moto ...a  trendy piece! But a super cool trendy piece at that. If I told you the price you wouldn't believe it! Read on... I just couldn't pass them up, they were for me, they were my size and possibly the last pair of this style, period. I have always said that it is best to spend a little more on classic pieces and much less on trendy, because simply trends go out of style and decrease in value. The boots are super edgy chic. Very a-la-Sincerely-Jules... They give you instant cool pints without having to try to hard. I haven't worn these just yet but I am patiently waiting for the right occasion. They are the perfect color too; a little gray and a little brown... to match most of my mommy chic looks. Having my 2 year old to run after, these were the perfect way to stay in style while saving money and looking like a cool mom while being comfortable ;)
PRICE: $39.99

I plan on posting style boards very soon and I will be including these shoes and how I would style them. So stay tuned for that. I filmed a short video recapping my recent shopping trips but after I edited somehow I can't get it on the right format to upload :( I have to learn more about videos because I want to start posting on my YoutTube channel, subscribe to it HERE so you don't miss the upcoming vids! If you have suggestions or tips on simple video editing, send them over to me!

Thank you all so much for your amazing love. It means so much to me, because of YOU my blog is going places! When you work hard, dreams come true!

Beaded

When it came to thinking about what outfits I wanted to wear for New York Fashion Week, I was super indecisive and totally last minute in styling them. As mentioned on the previous outfit post from Day 1, my favorite outfits come to me last minute and under pressure. I knew I wanted different styles for different days. So because I went with a super feminine and elegant look on the very first day, I wanted to do something completely different and more fun on the second day I was there. And these pants were definitely FUN. The print on them reminds me of my mom's vintage scarves. So chic and very 70s. And though initially I thought of wearing a simple solid black silk top... I said to myself "it's fashion week Erika go for it and have fun!" so I wore this black and white beaded jacket with gold accents. And added this cute red handbag to complete my look. Comfort is key and this outfit made me feel super comfy, confident and chic. I hope you enjoyed this one.
------

Feeling like Carrie...

First of all I wanted to take the time to thank you all for your amazing support throughout the last couple of weeks. I am finally back on regular posts. And all my New York Fashion Week show coverage have been posted. See my posts from last week for all the details. So today I start off with my very first NYFW look. We've had some pretty gorgeous days lately and I wanted to take advantage of the last days of summer in this vibrant yellow skirt. One of my favorites! And you wouldn't believe it but it arrived the night before the shows. I had no idea what I was going to wear up until about 11pm the night before the big day! So this outfit was very much a last minute decision. For me, some of my best outfits are last minute styles, that I put together without over thinking them, it works for me most times. I wanted to do something different each day so on this I went with a very feminine and very "Carrie Bradshaw" look. Because of the statement ruffles on my top, I decided to pull my hair back which I thought gave a simple look to my face while making the clothes speak for themselves.
------

Aside from the fabulousity that is Fashion Week in NY, there are tons of photographers out in Lincoln Center, on the first day we were photographed for Latina Magazine... and the feature was posted on Latina.com  see it here, here is the snapshot! I am always so humbled and happy to think where my blog is now... and I cannot thank YOU enough.
